In March 2009, the Brazilian Linguistics Association - ABRALIN will hold two major events in João Pessoa (PB), Brazil: the 6th ABRALIN International Meeting (March 4-7) and the 11th ABRALIN Linguistic Institute (March 9-13). The VI ABRALIN International Meeting will be organized with focus on the following thematic groups: Phonetics and Phonology; Syntax; Morphology; Semantics; Pragmatics; Lexicology and Terminology; Language Processing; Meaning and Cognition; Functionalism; Indigenous Languages; Historical Linguistics; Sociolinguistics; Dialectology / Geolinguistics; Discourse Analysis; Text Genres; Applied Linguistics (L1 and L2); Literacy; Psycholinguistics and Language Acquisition; Language Policy; Oral and Written Language in Popular Culture. Around 40 courses will be offered during the Institute (15-hour long courses), with the possibility of converting into credit hours in Post-Graduation courses.
