The Centre for Translation Studies has a reputation for excellence in terms of its research and teaching activities at postgraduate level. This new post is aimed at strengthening the Centre's existing profile and extending its activities at undergraduate level. The successful applicant will have experience of teaching translation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with focus on French and/or German as a working language. He or she will also have an excellent research and publications record in any aspect of translation studies and will be expected to supervise a number of research students. Commencing salary will be within the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer range: �17,238 - �35,670 per annum. These appointments are to begin on April 1, 2001. Applicants must be qualified to contribute to and interested in participating fully in educational and administrative capacities to one of ICU's two major language programs--the English Language Program or the Japanese Language Program. Additionally, applicants need to have demonstrated expertise (through teaching experience as well as a record of publication) in one of the following areas of language-related specialization: Contrastive studies (Japanese and English) with an emphasis in translation from both theoretical and practical perspectives or Psycholinguistics with emphasis on language processing or Sociolinguistics with an emphasis on Japanese Doctorate in the field of specialization and native English or Japanese competence required.
