Description:

The Department of English invites applications for a 2-year full-time
position of

 Lektor / Lektorin (English language instructor)

commencing 1 March, 2003. Teaching load: 12 to 16 hours per
week. Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience,
approx. EURO 39,000/p.a. (BAT IIa German scale)

Qualifications 
� Native speaker command of American English
� University degree (at least M.A.) in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or
 TEFL
� Good working knowledge of German
� Sound knowledge of information technology and multimedia, e-learning
 materials
� Three years of teaching experience at university level.

Tasks
� Teaching graduate and undergraduate English Language courses (for
 advanced learners)
� Teaching descriptive and pedagogical grammar and linguistic analysis
� Teaching courses in American Studies, with special emphasis on
 cultural history
� Participating in the development of BA / MA courses, examinations
 and departmental committee work
� Development of multimedia and e-learning materials

The application should include a curriculum vitae, details of teaching
and administrative experience, copies of academic diplomas, and
references: If available, a sketch for a PhD research project in
English Studies is welcome; the PhD should be completed by the end of
the appointment. A PhD project will reduce the teaching load to 12
hours per week.
